DisplayLink's DL-3700 chipset handles graphics, Ethernet, and audio. USB 3.0 ports are managed by a VIA VL811 chipset, and USB 2.0 ports are managed by a Terminus Technology chipset.
Speed and Power
Performance is best with USB 3.0 data-transfer rates of up to five gigabits per second between computer and dock. Play full-motion video in 1080p on the attached monitor. Access your Gigabit Ethernet network through without bottlenecks. The dock is USB 2.0 compatible, though communications with the PC will not exceed 480 megabits per second.
The UD-3000's four-amp power supply provides current for bus-powered devices on the spare USB ports. The unit is not a charging hub with no functionality for recharging iPads, iPods, other tablets, or smartphones.
Supported Operating Systems
The UD-3000 works with Windows 7 and 8 (32-bit or 64-bit), with drivers automatically provided by Windows Update; Vista SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit); Windows XP Home or Professional (including Tablet edition) SP3 (no 64-bit). Virtual USB graphics requires dual core or 2 Ghz or better CPU for best performance. No drivers are available for Mac or Linux at this time.
